Kids (3–17) Eye Exams
We understand the importance of early eye care for children. Our pediatric eye exams can help identify and treat vision problems in young children, supporting them so they can have a strong foundation for lifelong eye health.
Here are the general recommendations for how often children should have a routine eye exam:
- Ages 6–17: At least once before first grade and then annually
- Ages 3–6: At least once between 3–5 years

Adult (18–64) Eye Exams
Our eye exams for adults are tailored to your specific needs and lifestyle. We’ll help you stay on top of your eye health and help you maintain the vision you need to excel in your daily activities.
The recommended eye exam frequency for adults can vary based on your eye health:
- At risk: Yearly or as recommended
- Low risk: At least once every 2 years
Senior (65+) Eye Exams
As we age, our vision can change. Our senior eye exams are designed to help detect and address any age-related eye problems, such as cataracts or macular degeneration, to help you prevent or manage significant changes.
If you’re at risk for developing an eye condition, your optometrist might suggest more frequent eye exams. But generally:
- Ages 65+: Annual eye exams or as recommended

What to Expect at Your Routine Eye Exam
Even if it’s just a routine check, your eye exam is tailored just for you! If you have any vision concerns, a family history of eye diseases, or simply questions about your eyes, we’re here to educate, support, and help you get what you need.
A routine eye exam usually includes:
- Visual acuity test: Assessing your ability to see clearly at different distances.
- Eye health exam: Examining the external and internal structures of your eyes.
- Refraction test: Determining your prescription for eyeglasses.
- Glaucoma test: Check for increased eye pressure, a risk factor for glaucoma.
- Peripheral vision test: Evaluating your side vision.

Proactive Eye Care for Your Life-Long Vision Needs
20/20 vision isn’t the whole story. Even if you see clearly, your eyes can still undergo changes that affect your comfort and health. Routine eye exams are essential for preventative care, helping us catch early signs of eye disease or vision changes.
Plus, even if your vision remains the same, your lifestyle might change. Your favorite glasses or go-to contact lenses may not provide the same sharpness for screen time as they do for playing catch with your child.
We’re here to support clear, comfortable vision at every stage of life. Schedule your routine eye exam today.
